Cameo Tutorial

The terms of use are here.

What you will need:
Super Blade Pro
Bevel Soft Super Blade Pro prest.
Greek1 font

Open a new file, about 400 x 400, name the first layer, Background, and flood fill it with the color you would like to have as a background for your cameo (I used #EBC691).

Then make another layer, name it White Background.

Now, make another layer, and name it Cameo.

Using your Text Tool choose the Greek1 font, letter capital S, (there seems to be more than one Greek1 font, you may have to use capital R, or another letter) with the fill and stroke white, and the size 150.

Do NOT deselect.

Now, go to

Effects - Flaming Pear - Super Blade Pro - bevel_soft, and apply.

Your cameo will now look like this:

It's starting to shape up, but there's a bit more to do! With the Magic Wand , select all the areas where the background shows through (never mind the little fiddly bits, like the eyes, we'll take care of that later (remember to hold the Shift key down while you're selecting):

Now go to:

Selections - modify - expand - 1 pixel:

Flood fill the selected areas with white, and then apply the bevel_soft again. (With some images, the second bevel may not be attractive. If this is the case, flood fill with #EEEEEE, instead of white, and don't apply the bevel.)

As you can see, some of the background is showing through. So now, click your Magic Wand anywhere outside of the cameo part, and then go to:

Selections - Invert

The cameo will be selected. Do NOT deselect yet--go to the layer pallette, click on your White Background layer, which should be under the Cameo layer, and flood fill the selection with white.

Looking Good!

Now, all you have to do is to frame your cameo.

I used the Shapes Tool, set to oval, with the following settings:

Convert the layer to a raster layer. (Right click on the layer in the layer pallette, and click on Convert to Raster Layer. Then use the Magic Wand to select the oval frame. Then I used a Blade Pro preset, but you can just add add a bevel, or use a preset from any plugin you prefer.

That's it! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
