Deep Coloured Carpet Tutorial

This tutorial was written with PSP 7, and is quite easy to do. You will need the Xero plugin.

1. Open a new image, 300 x 300 pixels.

2. Flood-fill with the Flowers pattern, Scale 100%, Angle 90o, that comes with PSP 7. For those with earlier versions, you can right-click and save this image:



If you aren't familiar with using the Colour Pallette for patterns, there is a short explanation here
3. Go to

Effects - Plug-in Filters - Xero - Porcelain, default setting and then to
Effects - Plug-in Filters - Xero - Graytinter, default setting


4. Now go to:
Effects - Geometric Effects - Circle, and then to

Effects - Geometric Effects - Curly Q's, with the following settings:



5. Go to:

Effects - Reflection Effects - Kaleidoscope
All Settings 0, except Number of Petals 10.


6. Use the Selection Tool , Feather 0, placing the cursor at 150,150 and draw the circle out to the edges of the central design. Go to Selections - Invert - and hit delete. Then deselect (CTRL-D). Now you have the carpet--it just needs some colour!



7. Colourising

Go to Effects - Enhance Photo - Manual Color Correction


Red Carpet. Use Colour #710000, Preserve Lightness checked, and click twice in the left illustration.



Green Carpet. Use Colour #040000, Preserve lightness unchecked, and click once.

Blue Carpet. #160CA8, Preserve lightness checked, and click once.

8. If you want an oval rug, use the Deformation tool , and drag the centre boxes to the middle of the image:
