Using the Flood-Fill Tool for Patterns

We will use the Stucco pattern as an example of how to fill a selection with a pattern. First, you must have something selected, with the "marching ants" around it.
Stucco
The spatch pattern in the styles colour palette gives an excellent stucco effect. Click on the flood fill tool . Now go over to the colour palette, and press on the arrow in the Styles box, then click on the nine dots. When the pattern menu pops up, click on the pattern in the box (here it's Stained Wood). The sequence is shown here:

Now click on the pattern, and yet another box pops up.
Slide up until you find the spatch (or whatever pattern you're looking for) pattern, and click on it. Now the box will look like this:

Click o.k.
Click anywhere in the basic house selection, and it will have the splatch pattern!

Log Cabin

Effects-Sculpture-Mahogany.

Done.

Roof Shingles

Open on the workspace, and then you can use the Colour Pallette/Styles, as described above, to fill your selection. You can change it's colour by going to:

Colors - Colorize

and playing with the values, or by going to:

Effects - Enhance Color - Manual Color Correction

and following the directions.
