Flying Canada Goose Tutorial

This image was made with PSP 8, but can easily be done in earlier versions. This is a very easy tutorial to do.

All you will need are the alpha selection and MuraMeister Cloud files.

The terms of use are here

If you aren't familiar with using the Colour Pallette for patterns, there is a short explanation here

There is a short tutorial for the Materials Pallette in PSP 8 here.

How to Get The Alpha Selections
Selections - Load/Save Selections - Load Selection from Alpha Channel
Click on the selection you want and then on Load

1. Open the flyinggoosealpha.psp file you downloaded and click on the Upper Wing layer.

2. Upper Wing - Get the selection and then set your Foreground colour to #525252 and your Background colour to #766C59. Then go to:

Effects - Plugins - MuRa's Meister - Cloud
Click on Reset to get your foreground & background colours set
Use the Default preset.

3. Outer Wings - Flood-fill with Black.

4. Wing Feathers - Flood-fill with Black. Lower the Opacity of the layer to around 20, by using the slider in the Layer Pallette.

5. Middle Feathers - Flood-fill with black. Then lower the Opacity of the layer to 35.

6. Top Wing - Flood-fill with black.

7. Whitish Feather Ends - Flood-fill with #C0C0C0. Then lower the Opacity of the layer to 42.

8. Beak - Flood-fill with #404040.

9. Head and Neck - Flood-fill with black.

10. Chin Strap - Flood-fill with #FFFFF8.

11. Body - Flood-fill with #FFFFF8. Go to

Layers - Duplicate (Keep selected!)
Set the Foreground Colour to #5D2F2F.

Click on the Airbrush Tool , and use the following settings:

Size Round, Blend Mode Normal

Click once over the Body
Adjust - Blur - Motion Blur
Angle 54, Pixels 10.

(We duplicated the layer because the Motion Blur left some transparent areas, and the layer beneath corrects this.)

12. Tail - Flood-fill with black.

13. Lower Body - Flood-fill with #FFFFF8.

14. Legs - Flood-fill with #404040.

15. Eye - Flood-fill with #404040. Go to

Effects - 3D Effects - Inner Bevel - Round preset.

16. Now, it's time for the lower wing. Close all the layers that are not wing layers by clicking on the eyes on the layers. They will then have a red X. These are the layers which should not be closed:

Right-click on one of the open layers and Merge - Merge Visible
Layers - Duplicate
Image - Mirror
Image - Rotate - Free Rotate - Left - Free 100 deg
(Make sure All Layers is not checked)
Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen
Open all the closed layers by clicking on the Red X's
Use the Mover Tool to put the wing in place

Congratulations! I hope you like your flying goose.
