Graniteware Cup and Plate Tutorial

This tutorial was done with PSP 7. You will need:
Selections
Snowflakes Filter, OR
Universe Image Creator

The terms of use are here

NOTE: Each step which needs a new layer will use the format with the name of the new layer, and then the selection for that layer. So Whatever layer - whatever.sel, means make a new layer Whatever, and then get the whatever.sel file by going to Selections - Load from disk.
If you aren't familiar with using the Colour Pallette for patterns, there is a short explanation here

Graniteware Plate
1. We'll start with the plate, because it is so easy. Make a new image, 200 x 200. Just use the Selection Tool , Feather 0, Antialias checked, to draw a circle. Flood-fill the circle with #093FBB, and then go to Effects - Plug-in Filters and get VDL Adrenaline - Snowflakes and use the following settings:

Since we'll be using this several times, you could Save the setting as granitware.sfs by clicking on Save. The next time you want this setting, just click on Open.

If you're using the Universe plug-in, just use the Stars settings as given.

2. Now, go to Effects - 3D Effects - Inner Bevel and use the Frame preset--that's it! What could be simpler?

Graniteware Cup
1. Open a new image, 200 x 200 pixels. Name this layer Handle, and get 01handle.sel. Flood-fill with #093FBB and apply the VDL Snowflake effect again. Keep selected!

2. Cutout layer. Go to Effects - 3D Effects - Cutout and use the following settings:

V & H 1, Opacity 43, Blur 10.

3. Cup Shape layer - 02cupshape.sel. Flood-fill with the same blue and use the Snowflake plug-in again.

4. Inside layer - 03inside.sel. Flood-fill, apply the plug-in, and then go to Colors - Adjust - Brightness/Contrast, setting Brightness to minus 60, Contrast 0.

5. Rim layer - 04rim.sel. Flood-fill, apply the plug-in, and then go to Selections - Modify - Contract 5 pixels, and hit Delete so that the inside shows through.

Now, get 04rim.sel again, and go to Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow and use these settings:

V & H 3, Opacity 57, Blur 3.

You're all done!
