This tutorial can be done with PSP 7 or 8.

All you will need is the ladyslipper file. You can also right-click and download the colour chart below if you wish to use the same colours.

The terms of use are here

If you aren't familiar with using the Colour Pallette for patterns, there is a short explanation here

There is a short tutorial for the Materials Pallette in PSP 8 here.

4. Leaf Lines 2 - Get the Leaf Lines 2 selection and follow the directions in Step 2.

Change the Foreground colour to #5 (#CACCB4)
Use the same settings for the Airbrush, except change the Size to 35.
Holding the mouse button down, swish around a few times.

6. Petal Stripes--Optional. If you're going to make the image much smaller, they don't really show up.

Change your Foreground colour to No. 16 (#B1B490) and turn off the Background colour. If you're using PSP 7, use the Bezier tool. For PSP 8, click on the Pen tool

Use the following settings:

Click on Point 1 and drag to Point 2. (Don't click at Point 2, just release the mouse button.) Then click on Point 3, and the curved line will be made.

In the Layer Pallette, Right Click on the Vector layer and Convert to Raster Layer. If you wish, lower the Opacity of the layer to about 50. You can also use the Mover Tool if you want to change the position of the line.

7. Top Petal. Flood-fill with Colour #4. Then change your Foreground colour to #5. Click on the Airbrush Tool, and spray until you like the effect.

If you wish, you could make a stripe, using the same technique as in Step 6.

8.Top Petal Fold - Flood-fill with Colour #4. Then:

Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow
V 5, H 0, Opacity 17, Blur 10, Colour black

9. Left Petal Back. Flood-fill with Colour #5.

10. Bowl Back. Flood-fill with white. Click on the Airbrush tool, using the same settings as before. Change your Foreground colour as below, spraying quite heavily--but don't try to make the colour even.

Red Flower - Colour #1, or Colour #9
Yellow Flower - Colour #10
Pink Flower - Colour # 14

Press SHIFT-B
Brightness minus 15, Contrast 0

11. Bowl Petal. Flood-fill with Colour #6.

12. Pistil. Flood-fill with Colour #6. Make it a little darker by pressing SHIFT-B, and setting the Brightness to minus 5, Contrast 0. Then add a Drop Shadow:

V 7, H 0, Opacity 32, Blur 10, Colour black

13. Left Bowl layer. Flood-fill:

Red flower - No. 2
Yellow flower - White
Pink flower - #15

Changing your Foreground colour to the colour of your flower, use the Airbrush tool so spray the colour.

14. Left Petal Bottom. Flood-fill with Colour #5. Add the same Drop Shadow you just used.

15. Left Petal. Flood-fill with Colour #4. (You're probably getting pretty tired of these--but this is the last petal and you're almost done.) Change the Foreground Colour to #5 and spray with the Airbrush tool.

If you wish to add a curved line, use Colour #16, and the Pen tool with the same settings, and then lower the Opacity of the layer to around 50.

16. Bowl Front. Flood-fill with the same colour you used on the Left Bowl. (See Step 13.) Then, changing your Foreground to the colour of your flower, making to top and right edges darker than the rest. For the red flower, I found that leaving a lot of the bottom unsprayed, or lightly sprayed gave the best effect. For the pink and yellow flowers, I covered more.

Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow
V 10, H 0, Opacity 25, Blur 10, colour black.

Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow
V minus 10, H 0, Opacity 25, Blur 10, colour black.

You may want to change the Opacity, depending on which colours you're using.

Remember, each flower is different, even in nature, so you can't really go wrong. Also, after we make the sections, you can go back to the Bowl Front layer and spray some more. Just be sure to get the front bowl selection again, before you spray.

17. Bowl Lines layer. Get the selection and Flood-fill

For the red flower - Colour No. 3 (#ECDAC8)
For the pink and yellow flowers - White

18. Just a little touch up, now.

Click on the Pistil layer and set the Foreground to Colour #10. Click on the Airbrush Tool and change the Size to 15. Then, holding down the mouse key, spray on the pistil.

Then change the Foreground to Colour #8, and the Size to 5, and Density to 100 and make a few squiggles.

Now click on the Bowl Petal layer, change your Foreground colour to #10, and put some yellow on this petal.

Congratulations! I hope you enjoyed making your lady slipper.
