Prairie House

This tutorial was written with PSP 7, but should work with earlier versions. All you'll need is PSP and the prairiehouse.zip file which has selections and images.

The terms of use are here

1. Make a new image, 400 x 375 pixels.

Save the siding below by right-clicking and saving:

Go to Selections - Load from disc, 01housefront.sel. Open the siding.jpg image you downloaded, and flood-fill with the pattern.

If you aren't familiar with using the Colour Pallette for patterns, there is a short explanation here
While you're on this layer, use the Magic Wand and click in the window opening. Then flood-fill with dark gray.

2. Porch layer - 02porch.sel. Flood-fill with gray.

3. Porch Post layer - 03porchposts.sel. Flood-fill with gray and apply the following inner bevel:

4. Foundation layer - 04foundation.sel. Flood-fill with the Granite 3 pattern, Scale 45% in the Colour Pallette.

5. Chimney layer - 05chimney.sel. Flood-fill with the Cemented Rock pattern, Scale 40%.

6. Roof layer - 06roof.sel. Open the shingle.jpg you downloaded. Then flood-fill, Scale 27%. Click on the Deformation tool . Press the CTRL key and click on one of the outer squares of the Deformation too and drag it inward like this:

Go to Selections - Select All and with the Magic Wand, click on the roof to select it. Add a Drop Shadow with:

Vertical 11, Horizontal 3, Opacity 65, Blur 8

7. Porch Hang layer - 07porchhang.sel. (LOL--I'm sure there's a better term for this.) Flood-fill with gray (#808080).

8. Porch Roof layer - 08porch.sel. Fill and use the deformation tool the same way you did for the Roof. Then add the same Drop Shadow.

9. Step Supports layer - 09stepsupports.sel. Flood-fill with gray. Then add the same Drop shadow, just changing the Vertical to 0.

10. Steps layer - 10steps.sel. Flood-fill with the same gray, and add a drop shadow with the following settings:

V 3, H 0, Opacity 65, Blur 3

11. Window layer. Open the frontwindow.psp image you downloaded by clicking on it. Copy by pressing CTRL-A, CTRL-C, and then open your prairiehouse file. Make a new layer, Window, and paste the window over the window opening by pressing CTRL-E and moving into place. Then lower the opacity by about 65%. This lets the window fill you did in the first step show and even out the gradient.

12. Door layer. Open the door.psp file and move it in place using the same steps as you did for the window.

You're all done. Congratulations! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
