Sideboard

This tutorial was written with PSP 7, but should work with any version that handles selections. All you will need is the sideboard.zip file.

The terms of use are here

NOTE: Each step which needs a new layer will use the format with the name of the new layer, and then the selection for that layer. So Whatever layer - whatever.sel, means make a new layer Whatever, and then get the whatever.sel file by going to Selections - Load from disk.
If you aren't familiar with using the Colour Pallette for patterns, there is a short explanation here

1. Open a new image, 500 x 300 pixels. Name this layer Left Back Leg and get 01leftbackleg.sel. Flood-fill with the wood pattern you downloaded (or any pattern you like), Angle 90o.

Now, on the same layer, get 02leftbacklegside.sel. Flood-fill the same way and then go to Colors - Adjust - Brightness/Contrast - minus 15. Deselect (CTRL-D).

3. Right Back Leg. Go to Layers - Duplicate, and to Image - Mirror. (You can use the Mover Tool later, if necessary.)

4. Left Leg layer - 03leftleg.sel. Flood-fill as before. On the same layer, get 04leftlegside.sel. Flood-fill and darken by minus 15, as you did before. Deselect.

5. Right Leg. Go to Layers - Duplicate and then Image - Mirror.

6. Front layer- 05front.sel. Flood-fill with an angle of 0.

7. Left Panel layer - 06leftpanel.sel. Flood-fill with the same angle.

Then go to Selections - Modify - Contract - 5 pixels. Flood-fill with the lighter wood fill. Then go to Modify - Contract - 3 pixels, and now flood-fill with the darker wood fill.

Get 06leftpanel.sel again and go to Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow and use the following settings:

V 1, H 1, Opacity 60, Blur 3.

Repeat the Drop Shadow, changing the V & H to minus 1. Deselect (CTRL-D).

8. Right Panel. Go to Layers - Duplicate and then Image - Mirror.

9. Center Drawers layer - 07centerdrawer.sel. Flood-fill, Contract 5 pixels, flood-fill with the light wood, contract 3 pixels, and then flood-fill with the dark wood.

Get 07drawer.sel again, and apply the same Drop Shadows as you did for the Left Panel. Deselect.

10. For the lower center drawer, copy the Center Drawer (CTRL-C) and paste into place (CTRL-E).

11. Top Front - 08topfront.sel. Flood-fill and apply the following Drop Shadow:

V 3, H 0, Opacity 60, Blur 3.

12. Top layer - 09top.sel. Flood-fill and apply the Same Drop shadow, changing the V to 1.

13. Pulls. We're almost finished! Open the pulls.psp file by clicking on it, and Copy (CTRL-C). Then go back to your Sideboard image, make another layer, Pulls, and Paste (CTRL-E). You can make a new layer for each pull, just pressing CTRL-E, and putting in place.

14. Hinges. The left and right panels are really doors, so we need to place hinges on them. Make a new layer, Hinges, and open the Hinge File, Copy (CTRL-C) and go back to your image and Paste (CTRL-E) two on the left side of the left panel. Deselect, Layers - Duplicate and Image - Mirror, and you're done.
