Spinner's Chair Tutorial
This tutorial was written with PSP 7. All you'll need is
this file.
The terms of use are
here
NOTE: Each step which needs a new layer will use the format with the name of the new layer, and then the selection for that layer. So Whatever layer - whatever.sel, means make a new layer Whatever, and then get the whatever.sel file by going to Selections - Load from disk.
If you aren't familiar with using the Colour Pallette for patterns, there is a short explanation
here
1. Open a new image, 250 x 450 pixels. Name this layer
Legs, and get the 01leg.sel selection, and flood-fill with the Stained Wood pattern in the Colour Pallette, Scale 40, Angle 90
o.
2. On the same layer, get the 02rings.sel selection, and flood fill with brown (#9E5200). Then go to
Effects - 3D Effects - Inner Bevel
Use the Pillow Preset, changing the Elevation to 30.
3. Front Seat layer - 03frontseat.sel. Flood-fill and go to
Colors - Adjust - Brightness/Contrast and set
Brightness minus 30, Contrast 0.
4. Seat layer - 04seat.sel. Changing the Angle of the wood pattern to 40o, flood-fill.
5. Back layer - 05back.sel. Change the Angle of the pattern to 86o, flood-fill. Go to Colors - Adjust - Brightness/Contrast and darken with the same settings. Then
Deselect (CTRL-D)
Select All (CTRL-A)
Click on the back with the Magic Wand
Then, pressing down the SHIFT key, move this back over six pixels to the left by pressing on the Left Arrow key six times.
6. Back layer 1 - Get the 05back.sel again, and just flood-fill with the same settings.
7. Go down to the first layer you made, Leg, and go to
Layers - Duplicate, then
Image - Rotate - Rotate Left, 17o
(make sure that All Layers is not checked.
Then, using the Mover Tool
, move this leg to the right.
8. Go down to the first Leg layer again, and go to
Layers - Duplicate, then
Image - Resize - 90%
(make sure Resize All Layers is not checked, then
Image - Rotate - Rotate Right, 15o
(make sure that All Layers is not checked.)
Using the Mover Tool, move this leg up and to the left.
9. For the last time, click on the lowest Leg layer and Duplicate. Then go to
Layers - Duplicate, then
Image - Resize - 90%
(make sure Resize All Layers is not checked, then
Image - Rotate - Rotate Left, 8o
(make sure that All Layers is not checked.)
With the Mover Tool, move this last leg up and to the right.
Congratulations! You're all done. I hope you like your chair.
