NOTE: Each step which needs a new layer will use the format with the name of the new layer, and then the selection for that layer. So Whatever layer - whatever.sel, means make a new layer Whatever, and then get the whatever.sel file by going to Selections - Load from disk.If you aren't familiar with using the Colour Pallette for patterns, there is a short explanation here
2. Crown layer - 02crown.sel. Flood-fill with the cloth pattern.
3. Brim layer - 03brim.sel. Flood-fill. There, we've finished the basic bonnet. Now it's time to add the ribbon.
4. Making the Rosette
1. Open the ribbon image included in the download (or any pattern you prefer). Using the Selection Tool,5. Rosette layer. Hit DELETE. Then go to
Selections - Modify - Expand 1 pixel--keep selected!Right-click on one of the layers in the Layer Pallette, and

4. Lower the opacity of this top layer to 50, by using the slider on the right-hand side of the Layer Pallette.
5. Then Merge - Merge visible both layers. (I learned this technique from Mahogany--I hope her site is back up soon!) Copy the rosette (CTRL-C).
6. Ribbon Brim - Go to the Ribbon image and then
This piece of ribbon is not long enough, so we'll have to fix that!
7. Still on the Ribbon image, go to

8. Copy the ribbon (CTRL-C), and paste into place (CTRL-E), next to the first ribbon piece, carefully matching the pattern. Then press CTRL-E again, and match the third piece of ribbon to the other two. You should now have a nice long ribbon. Now, copy your long ribbon (CTRL-C). You can save this image if you think you will use this ribbon again.
9. Ribbon layer. Go back to your Bonnet image and paste (CTRL-E) the image anywhere on this new layer. Deselect (CTRL-D). Then go to
Now, use the Mover Tool
to place the ribbon on the crown of the hat. Of course, it is much too long, so get 02crown.sel, got to Selections - Invert and hit DELETE. Go to
10. Ribbon Ties layer. Copy the long ribbon, again, deselect (CTRL-D), and Rotate the image to the right, 80 o. Then go to

Then go to Effects - Sharpen - Sharpen, and use the Mover Tool to place the tie under the rosette. Just one more step!
12. Go to
