Vanity Table
Tutorial

The Terms of Use are here.

All you need for this tutorial is PSP and the selections which are in the Zip File, which also has a PSP file of the chiffon layer. I used PSP 7, but think that it would work with most earlier versions.

1. Open a new file, 350 x 500 pixels. Call the first layer Background. Add a new layer, Skirt, and go to Selections/Load from Disk and select skirt.sel. Flood fill with white or any colour you like.

2. On the same layer, add the scallops. Go to Selections/Load from disk again, and select scallops.sel. Flood fill with any colour you like.

3. Open the chiffonskirt.psp (by clicking on it) from the zip file you downloaded and press CTRL-A/CTRL-C. Then make a new layer on your image, Chiffon layer, and press CTRL-E to copy the chiffon skirt, placing it over the skirt.

4. Make another layer, Vanity top side, open the selection, vanitytopside.sel, and flood fill with the colour of your choice.

5. Now make another layer, Vanity Top. Open the selection, vanitytop.sel, and flood fill with the colour you like.

THE MIRROR
Make another layer, Middle Mirror, and open the selection centermirrorframe.sel. Flood fill with the colour you want for your frame, and then go to Selections/Modify/Contract and contract by 5-8 pixels.

Flood-fill the selection with a metallic gradient, angle 317 degrees, Invert gradient checked. Go to the colour pallette, click on the small arrow under Styles, and then on the gradient symbol shown below. A new dialog box will appear:

If you want to do more with the frame, do NOT deselect and see the Note following.

NOTE: If you would like to add a bevel to the mirror frame, or use a preset for gold, silver, whatever, go to Selections - Invert, and your layer will look like this:

With the Magic Wand tool , click on the frame. The frame will be selected and now you can add what you wish.

It's time for another layer--Right Side Mirror. Open the selection rightmirror.sel, and follow the procedure for the Middle Mirror. Press Layers/Duplicate and then Image/Mirror, and if necessary use the mover tool to put it in place.

Congratulations! You're done.

If you want, you can add bows, flowers, whatever.

Remember, if you put anything on the vanity top, that it will be reflected in the mirror. Place the object on its own layer, and then duplicate the layer. Click on the (not the duplicate) layer and lower the opacity to about 25 or 30 by adjusting the slider on the right side of the Layer Pallette.

Place the almost-transparent object where it looks like a reflection. You may need to use the eraser or lasso tool to erase part of the transparent image, as shown in the 3rd image below.
